Especially grateful for this precious one’s life tonight. 💙 She is now sleeping peacefully beside me (as pictured) but she nearly died today. She stopped breathing due to choking (complete obstruction) and collapsed on her side, lifeless before me. I did a couple panicked chest compressions and then stuck my hand down her throat. Thank God I was eventually able to pry the frozen meatball out (injuring my hand in the process, it was so wedged in there). I have never in my entire life been so scared. Never. I share this to encourage my fellow pet owners to learn emergency procedures like how to clear an obstructed airway and CPR for pets. (I didn’t do the recommended compression technique but thankfully it all worked out. See a link in my profile for a short video on proper interventions.) 💙 PS #Bristow turned 14 last week (98 in human years!!). And she’s 3 years in to kicking cancer’s ass. So much for which to be grateful.
